Moda Blockheads Round 5: Block 2
Another Wednesday, another Blockheads block! This one is brought to us by Joanna of Fig Tree Quilts.
I have really been enjoying sewing with these Peachy Keen & Blueberry Delight fabrics. They have been such fun!
This block was quite fun to piece. Those outermost star points (the 3 triangle units) were made oversized and then trimmed down to size. This kept them nice and accurate. I’ve often pieced that sort of unit without trimming them down and they can be a little bit fussy. The method in the pattern which allowed for trimming kept things nice and tidy. I used my June Tailor Perfect half square & quarter square triangle ruler to square those units up and it worked wonderfully. That is one specialty ruler that I use very often! If you’ve been here for any length of time, you’ve heard me mention it more than once. =)
You can find the pattern for Galaxy Star here.
Wouldn’t you know that Tiggs had to get in on the Galaxy Star action too. It’s so funny because we won’t see him outside but as soon as we pop out with some quilt blocks to photograph, he rolls on in like he’s just been waiting.
He eagerly waits for the next Blockheads block just like we do!
Happy sewing! Corey

I love you beautiful block Corey! Your sense of fabric and color placement is always spot on! I can just picture Tiggs hanging around, just waiting to see what block or quilt you’ve made to get his seal of approval!!
Nicely done. Love the fussy-cut center!
Corey, Thank you for sharing your version of this block. I love the colors. You are so talented!
Adorable! Love the fabric selections
I think Tiggs just admires your work as much as we viewers do.
Tiggs is so cute as if to say, okay everyone here it is and time to get busy!
Thank you, Corey! Always tickled to receive your blogpost notifications in my email. Your interpretation of fabric use for the block design is impeccable, not to mention your skills. And your resident fluffy buddy has given his stamp of approval! 😉
Tiggs is definitely doing his inspection! I can’t wait for peachy keen! I’ve already preordered it.
Tiggs is a great quality control inspector and very good at what he does. Love your site Corey
Tiggs knows a beautiful block when he sees one!
I love this block. And I love your color choice.
I love you color blend for these block! I have a question. Are you using a fat quarter for the blocks or yardage? If a fat quarter is it going to be enough? Thanks Corey
I’m loving your Round 5 blocks with the soft palettes of your Peachy Keen. They’re really pretty.
