Sunny Patches BOM: Sunny Sawtooth Star Block

Sunny Sawtooth Star is the next block in our Sunny Patches BOM.

This is our second to last block for the Sunny Patches BOM.  Next month, I will be sharing the final block as well as the quilt finishing instructions.

I am going to end up with a festive Beautiful Day quilt in a more holiday-themed palette with a lot of reds and greens as well as my summer-y Sunwashed fabrics palette.  It’ll be fun to have two quilts made using the Sunny Patches patterns. =)

You can download the Sunny Sawtooth Star block here.

Ryan and I filmed a Sunny Sawtooth Star video for this month that you can watch here.

I mocked up the Sunny Sawtooth Star block into a quilt using Peach Keen fabrics.

Peachy Keen fabrics are shipping to quilt shops in September so this gives you another fun idea of a quilt you might like to make using Peachy Keen.

If you are new to the Sunny Patches Block of the month, you will find the fabric requirements herean introduction post here the 1st block here,  2nd block here,  the 3rd block here,  the 4th block here,  the 5th block here, and the 6th block here.

Thank you so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! Corey

Corey, do you happen to know the fabric requirements if we want to make a sunny sawtooth star quilt like you mocked up? I’m sure I can figure it out based on the free block pattern you gave just didn’t know if you knew off hand before I did all the math lol. It is stunning. This is my favorite block so far. I’m playing catch-up on this sew along but I think I can get there!

    Thank you!
    Kimberly

I am looking for the pattern for the sampler quilt Buttercup and Slate. I have reached out before but I did not get a response. If this is available please send me info.

It is probably the Oh Happy Day sampler sew along you are wondering about. It was a sew along using my book, Oh Happy Day. If you search “oh happy day sampler” in the search bar here on the blog, you will pull up the posts that talk about that sew along. You do need a copy of my book, Oh! Happy Day for that sew along.

This has been another fun Corey quilt to make and I thank you for the hours of pleasure it gives me to participate in your sew-alongs. My longarm quilter even comments on your designs when I take my quilts to her. In addition to this quilt I am working on one of your older patterns, Bespoke, using a combination of fabrics left from the Spring Brook Blossoms sew-along and the Buttercup and Slate sew-along of previous years. Those fabrics were too beautiful to cut up for scrap quilts and the Bespoke pattern has been a terrific way to revisit these lines. Still putting together blocks for the scrappy Irish chain and loving that, too. You provide so much inspiration with your wonderful patterns and fabrics.

    Hello Corey,
Your Sunny Sawtooth Star is amazing and way too cute to leave on a printed page! I have gotten way behind in the sew-along and sewing projects in general, so many ups and downs all at once in life sometimes… Anyway… I am going to self-motive and forego doing blocks in order to do this one & maybe post it in your Facebook group.
    Thank you for sharing!
    Rose T.
    P.S.
Peachy Keen is so beautiful! Looking forward to payday!

Question – The printout for block 6 says “block 6”, but the printout for block 5 says “block 4”, block 4 says “block 3”, block 3 says “block 2”, block 2 says “block 1”, and block 1 is the HST Jelly Roll Block – where is printout that actually say “Block 5”??

  10. Lois Oberg says:

    Ignore previous comment – I found block 5 ,

    Hi Corey
I’d like a way to possibly get a pattern of the Mock-up you did in the above Bog in Peachy Keen. I’ve Pre-order a Half Yard Bundle from Fat Quarter Shop, but need the Yardage Requirements. Thanks so much for another great BOM

I hope you loved your vacation . I have Loved Watching the Tutorials on Your YouTube channel. Thanks for All You Give us, Fabrics, Quilt Patterns and Tips. Paying for my “Peachy Keen” on Tuesday. Can’t Wait.
    1) Is there a way we can print off the “Sunny Patches” Mock up you did in “Peachy Keen”?
    2) I really love the print from “Sunwashed 29160-11” but the only way to purchase the 4 1/3 yards for the backing of the Sunny Patches QAL, I is to buy one of the extra backing sets from FQS of “Bountiful” Make-A-Wish Charity Quilt. Do you know what the full backing is? I could do the Pieced backing on the “Sunny Patches” QILT?
    PLEASE Let Me Know

    Pamela
