Round 4 Moda Block Heads, Block 12

It’s a Friendship Star for our 12th block of this round of Moda Blockheads.  I think we all love a friendly, Friendship Star.  I know that I do. =)

Our Friendship Star block is brought to us by Deb Strain.

You will find the PDF pattern here.

As a quilt maker, I make a lot of Friendship Star blocks.  I bet you do too!  They are such happy little blocks and simple to piece.  They look pretty in a lot of different fabrics and can be scrappy, just a little scrappy, or not scrappy at all.  For my quilt block today, I went with just a little bit scrappy.

I think the scrappiest Friendship Star quilt that I made was the one for the book, Sunday Best Quilts, that Sherri McConnell and I wrote together.

I took photos as I was working on them because I thought they were so pretty!

Lots of HST’s!

I used a mix of background fabrics and red prints from a variety of Moda designers.

Friendship Stars

The stars didn’t end up being scrappy, but the background was a beautiful mix of low volume prints with little bits of red.

Linen & Berries Quilt from Sunday Best Quilts

This quilt now hangs out pretty much permanently on one of our couches.  I backed it with minky and it is a perfectly snuggly quilt.  These simple little stars are such a pretty addition to a quilt.

Have fun making your Friendship Star block & Happy Sewing. =) Corey

  1. Corey, I remember when you first posted about that book you did with Sherri. I immediately fell in love with those two quilts, Friendship Star and Linen & Berries. I screenshoted the same images (above) at the time and put them in my (phone) photo folder “Future Projects”. They are still there waiting their turn.

Love your red and white friendship star quilt! With the little pops of green here and there. I’ve watched several videos about how to,cut up your scraps for future projects. Im always apprehensive, because I think what if I want those colors for a later project, and the shapes I cut won’t work. But I think I’m going to have to just jump in ☺️

  3. Am having so much fun making the Blockheads quilt that I want to make the past two as well. Keep up the good work, and it is work, I appreciate all you do. You also making the quilts fun. Love your blog.

Cory, I love the cute star block you posted today. The fabric is soooo nice. And of course, your red star quilt is adorable.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
