Serendipity in Apricot & Ash {Completed Quilt}

Good morning!–welcome to the final release of the Serendipity Quilt Along.  My quilt has safely arrived at Fat Quarter Shop and is being auctioned off this week on Ebay to benefit Make A Wish Central & South Texas.

The FQS gang took wonderful photos in preparation for the quilt auction on Ebay so I will be sharing some of those in this blog post.  Today’s pattern release is for the pieced backing instructions.  You will find that here along with all of the row instructions that have been released as part of this quilt along.

I love the way pieced backings look but once I get the quilt top finished, I am ready to be done with the quilt!  Because of this, if I have a 108″ wide fabric that works as the backing fabric, I am so happy to use it. =)  For my Serendipity quilt, I opted to use the fabric in the above picture…it is a 108″ wide backing from my Canning Day line of fabric.  Unfortunately, I have used the last of my bolt of it–I’ve used this backing for so many quilts!–the warm dark gray works so well with so many of my lines.  I have another dark gray 108″ wide backing releasing in an upcoming fabric line so I will need to make sure to snag more than one bolt of that one!

Kaylene Parry beautifully quilted my quilt for me using an all over design of a daisy sort of pattern.  I love the way it compliments the quilt top.  You will find Kaylene on Instagram here.

In the above picture, you can also see how pretty that white on white background fabric from my Sugarcreek line works with Apricot & Ash.  This is such a fun, flower-filled quilt!

The binding fabric is from my Sunnyside Up line of fabric–the little coral bias gingham stripe works so nicely with Apricot & Ash.  I love how beautifully this quilt came together.  And it was fun to be working on it at the same time as so many of you. =)

If you want to take a peek at the auction or perhaps bid on it yourself, you can see it here.  You can also see the other quilts that are currently up for auction as part of the sew along here.  This has been such a fun event to take part in and even more fun when it is benefitting such a great cause.  Kimberly will be sharing my Apricot & Ash Serendipity quilt during the FQS livestream tomorrow July 16 at 10am EST.  So if you’d like to see it a bit more and see the other quilts that are being auctioned, be sure to tune in here–or catch the replay later.

I will be back on Monday with the next block release in our Spring Brook Blossoms sew along…and!–I’ll be sharing a peek at my brand new fabric line debuting to quilt shops right now.  What a fun way to kick off next week. =)  Take care and have a wonderful weekend, Corey

    Hi Corey, I love Serendipity in Apricot & Ash. I just love the peachy tones and the greys. Please let us know when your next wide back is released. I have to say I concur with you on backings. I did do the pieced back for Serendipity, it came out beautifully. My quilter loved it too. But in general, I love using a wide back too. Can’t wait for your next collection!
