Serendipity Quilt Along Fabric Requirements

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  While we were enjoying our holiday, Fat Quarter Shop released the fabric requirements for the upcoming Serendipity Quilt Along.  This means that I can share my plan for the quilt along as well as the fabric requirements needed.

I shared about the Serendipity quilt along in this blog post in September.  I will be joining in and sewing along with all of you and I will be making my quilt using Apricot & Ash fabrics.  At the end of the sew along, my quilt will be auctioned off to benefit Make A Wish along with the Fat Quarter Shop version in Spring Brook.

Since Apricot & Ash fabrics have been reprinted and are in stock again, it is the perfect time to share my quilt plan along with the fabrics needed if you’d like to make one in Apricot & Ash as well.

Above is my mock-up quilt plan for this quilt along.  This is the stack of fabrics that I plan to use:

Because Apricot & Ash sold out so quickly earlier this year, I would suggest purchasing your fabrics sooner rather than later if you’d also like to use the line of fabric.  I’d hate for it to sell out before you can snag what you would need.

Starting from the top of the stack above, you will need the following amounts:

1 yard green gingham (29105-16) (Note: I am using the green gingham in place of two different 1/2 yard cuts of green, 1 yard total)

1/2 yard Spring Blooms in the color Baby’s Breath (29102-15)

1/2 yard Rosebuds in the color Baby’s Breath (29103-15)

1/2 yard Spring Blooms in the color Apricot (29102-14)

1/2 yard Rose Garden in the color Apricot (29101-14)

1/2 yard Dotty Plus in the color Coral (29106-12)

1/2 yard Rose Garden in the color Coral (29101-12)

1/2 yard Ash gingham (29105-19)

1/2 yard Rosebuds in the color Ash (29103-19)

1/2 yard Rose Garden in the color Ash (29101-19)

3/4 yard binding: Ticking Stripe in Ash (29107-19) Note: the binding pictured in the quilt top picture is from Spring Brook which would also be a nice choice.  That number is 29117-13 and it is scheduled to ship to quilt shops in January/February 2021.

5 1/4 yards background fabric Bella Solid in Off White (9900-200)

I don’t have a mock up for the pieced backing using Apricot & Ash (here it is in Spring Brook):

These are my A&A picks for the pieced backing:

In place of the blue all around the the edge: 4 1/2 yards Rose Garden in Cloud (29101-11)

In place of the yellow: 1/2 yard ticking stripe in the color Coral (29107-13)

In place of the blue flower petals: Fat Quarter of Rosebuds in the color Baby’s Breath (29103-15)

For the green stem: Fat Quarter of green gingham (29105-16)

For the white background: 7/8 yard background fabric Bella Solid in Off White (9900-200)

I hope this information is helpful!  Have a wonderful day!

It looks lovely in Apricot and Ash. I ordered the Spring Brook fabric kit months ago and am eagerly awaiting its arrival in January. I’m excited to try the navy background. It will be something different than my other quilts, and I think it will set off your Spring Brook line beautifully.

I ordered the kit, but now I’m thinking maybe I’ll dip into my stash of Apricot and Ash instead. I could make two, or make a different quilt with the kit. Lots of options.

Your fabric and block designs are always so gorgeous. Thanks for all of your inspiration to make the new year better.

Thanks for the refresher. I bought a stash of Apricot and Ash as soon as I could get my hands on it (Spring?) and then I moved. It’s altogether in its own bin, along with 4 of the floral panels. Long enough that I completely forgot what I was going to make with it.

I am planning to have a dark brown background that looks like panelling, so I think the apricot colours in Apricot and Ash will be a great companion colour to go with it.

Would you please make a one page printable fabric list to download for this quilt project?

What is the finished size of the quilt?

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
