Sewcialites Blocks 11 & 12

Good Morning!–today I am sharing the 11th & 12th blocks for our Sewcialites Sew Along.

I had a little bit of a mix up with my block last week..long story short, I made the wrong block initially (the block you see above) and then didn’t have the correct block quite ready to share in time.  So this week, I am sharing both last week’s block as well as this week’s block.  I’ll share the block for this week first:

For this week, we are making the Faithful Block, designed by Camille Roskelley.  You can find the block pattern on the Fat Quarter Shop Blog and in this handy spot where all of the blocks are uploaded weekly.

I made mine using Spring Brook fabric which should be coming out next month.  I can’t believe that January is next month!  I am doing all of my blocks in the 3″ size for the Sewcialites quilt along…this block is super cute in this size!

Oh, and that cute littler ruler box in the photo above is from this Etsy shop..I always get asked about them.  I use them for everything and have a number of different sizes.  They are perfect in my sewing room and would be so nice for any quilters you need to shop for this holiday season.  And I love knowing that my purchases from this shop are helping support such a nice small business.

I also wanted to let you know that just as of this week some of the early precuts for Spring Brook have arrived to quilt shops.  I did a quick search on Etsy and as of the writing of this blog post there were still a nice selection of precuts available on Etsy.  You can click here to see my search results.  I don’t know how long they’ll last, it is always a very limited early release (and only precuts).  The line releases in January so this is a fun way to get some goodies early.

If you’ve been holding off on a new project waiting for Spring Brook you might be able to get some earlier than you thought! =)

And now on to last week’s block.  This is the Cheer block brought to us by Me & My Sister.  You will find the free block pattern here (along with all of the blocks released so far).

I changed the placement of my fabrics so that center star really shines.  Then because that meant I had two squares of the same print around the four corners, I changed those two little squares to one rectangle.  So, just a wee little tweak on this one for me because of my fabric placement.  It’s just the sweetest little block.

I thought the name of this block, Cheer, was so fitting because Barb & Mary are always filled with Cheer, as are their patterns and fabrics!

I hope that you all have been enjoying this sew along–I know I look forward to making the blocks each week. =)  Have a wonderful weekend!
