Sewcialites Round 2, Block 15

It could be springtime based on all of the green in that photo. =)  While it’s not quite Spring, I did make a spring-ish quilt block for our Sewcialites block this week.

I was looking through the blocks that I’ve already made for my Sewciliates quilt and I realized that I need to add a bit more green.  I’ve been going a little bit heavier on the blues/grays/yellows.  It’s always a great idea to look at all of your blocks together periodically during a sew along like this so you can keep your colors balanced.  My green was a bit low, so this block adds a fun bright spot of the color.

Our block this week is brought to us by Minki Kim and you can find the free pattern here.

I made one change to my block in that I opted to piece my center using partial seams rather than cutting those individual squares.  If you’ve never tried partial seams before, they aren’t tricky to do and you can find tutorials online on how to do so.  Additionally, if you have the book Sherri McConnel and I co-wrote, Sunday Best Quilts, Sherri’s quilt “Driftwood Drive” beautifully shows how to piece a block just like the center of this block.

Have fun sewing up your block! Corey

I’m typically not the biggest fan of green, but this block is so pretty and fresh in this combination!! I love the soft greens in Buttercup & Slate, and the bees always make me happy! Love it =)

My question is. How do I get all the other blocks. I just had my first greatgranddaughter and would love to make this for her.
    Thank you.
