So many scrappy things!

We have another new free scrappy block today…And a scrappy quilt finish.

Today, I have the fun of sharing not only my scrappy Irish Chain quilt top finish but also another free scrappy quilt block pattern. First up, let me share with you the scrappy Irish chain finish.

Many of you have been working along with me over the last year to make your own scrappy Irish chain quilt. This is such a great way to use up your stash scraps! The pattern is by Jessie Fincham and you can find it here. I did share some updates I made to the pattern which you can find in this blog post. And I’ve shared a series of videos on everything from cutting to pressing and progress over the last year. You can find the video playlist here.

For my scrappy Irish chain quilt, I used scraps from my fabric lines…the white portions of the quilt uses the sketch fabric from Beautiful Day. The dark gray solid is Moda Bella in the color Etchings Charcoal. I also made my quilt smaller than the pattern…my quilt is 54″ square and the original pattern is 90″ square.

And now for the next free scrappy block…it’s a Scrappy Butterfly block.

You can download the pattern for the scrappy butterfly block here.

You can find all of the previous scrappy block patterns in this blog post.

Ryan and I shared a video chatting about the scrappy Irish chain quilt top as well as the scrappy blocks which you can watch here.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! Corey

Corey, thank you! for all your freebies, great tutorials, and luscious fabric lines. Your buggy block has gotten much use admiration, as well as use. I modified it to create 5 buggies from the local Amish churches. It was made into a quilt for the local medical clinic specializing in genetic disorders of the Anabaptist communities; it brought $920 several years ago. You are a blessing in many ways to this world.

Thank you for the new pattern. I print all your patterns, since I am old school and love paper. I thought about making this block using blues, reds and purples. I will send you a photo when it is done. Thank you for all your inspiration. I am retired and enjoy these posts, as they brighten my day. Debbie

I print out all of my own patterns too! =) I always work off a printed paper pattern rather than looking off a phone/tablet. =) I can’t wait to see your finished block!

Isn’t the distraction before the video called, “Creatively Minded” Fons Portor Design Wall I’ve had mine for years. I live in an apartment so mine is folded in half and just put up by hanging the grommets up on little nails. Thanks Corey

Love the little scrappy blocks. I finally finished piecing my scrappy Irish Chain. I made mine the size you did. I just don’t need a 90 inch square quilt. Now just need to quilt it. I finished it at quilt retreat and need to snap pictures of all the tops I finished at retreat. Then share on the facebook page.

I just landed on this and am so excited with the possibilities. You may have already mentioned this, but do you have a Scrappy House Block in the making? I also print out the pages and am excited at the possibilities. I am going to make some into hoop quilts that I put on the wall in my sewing room and can change them out with the seasons. Oh what fun. Thank you so much!!

Hi Corey, I am a new quilter and love it so much! I can’t believe it took for me to retire to discover quilting, but now that I have, it is all I think about! : ) I just discovered you on youtube and enjoy watching and listening to you. I have already downloaded some of the free scrappy quilt pattern blocks and can’t wait to make them. I want to thank you for your generosity and to let you know how much it is appreciated. Best wishes on your move to your new home. Moving is soooo much work. Be easy on yourself and keep your sense of humor….lol
