So many scrappy things!
We have another new free scrappy block today…And a scrappy quilt finish.
Today, I have the fun of sharing not only my scrappy Irish Chain quilt top finish but also another free scrappy quilt block pattern. First up, let me share with you the scrappy Irish chain finish.
Many of you have been working along with me over the last year to make your own scrappy Irish chain quilt. This is such a great way to use up your stash scraps! The pattern is by Jessie Fincham and you can find it here. I did share some updates I made to the pattern which you can find in this blog post. And I’ve shared a series of videos on everything from cutting to pressing and progress over the last year. You can find the video playlist here.
For my scrappy Irish chain quilt, I used scraps from my fabric lines…the white portions of the quilt uses the sketch fabric from Beautiful Day. The dark gray solid is Moda Bella in the color Etchings Charcoal. I also made my quilt smaller than the pattern…my quilt is 54″ square and the original pattern is 90″ square.
And now for the next free scrappy block…it’s a Scrappy Butterfly block.
You can download the pattern for the scrappy butterfly block here.
You can find all of the previous scrappy block patterns in this blog post.
Ryan and I shared a video chatting about the scrappy Irish chain quilt top as well as the scrappy blocks which you can watch here.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! Corey
Love the scrappy blocks and the butterfly is just too cute. Thank you for all you do for your quilty followers.
You’re so welcome!…thank you!
Cute butterfly pattern! Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Sweet block!
Thank you!
Corey, thank you! for all your freebies, great tutorials, and luscious fabric lines. Your buggy block has gotten much use admiration, as well as use. I modified it to create 5 buggies from the local Amish churches. It was made into a quilt for the local medical clinic specializing in genetic disorders of the Anabaptist communities; it brought $920 several years ago. You are a blessing in many ways to this world.
Oh wow!…what a wonderful charity quilt donation!
I love the secondary pattern that appears on your butterfly blocks! Thanks for sharing how they would look in a quilt. Your patterns are so detailed and easy to follow. I really appreciate that!
I always try to have patterns that are easy to follow!…thank you for saying that!
How do the scrappy blocks all outdo each other?? This one is so adorable!
This one was such a fun one!
I can’t wait to make the butterfly! Thank you!!!!
I had such fun making mine! I hope you enjoy stitching it up!
Thank you for the new pattern. I print all your patterns, since I am old school and love paper. I thought about making this block using blues, reds and purples. I will send you a photo when it is done. Thank you for all your inspiration. I am retired and enjoy these posts, as they brighten my day. Debbie
I print out all of my own patterns too! =) I always work off a printed paper pattern rather than looking off a phone/tablet. =) I can’t wait to see your finished block!
Thank you for another cute scrappy block! I love all things scrappy…especially Corey Yoder fabric scraps! I’m planning a scrappy butterfly wallhanging!
That will be so pretty!
Another fun scrappy block. Thank you.
You’re so welcome!
Hello
Good afternoon!…thanks so much for stopping by my blog. =)
Is there a pattern for the bird quilt to the left of you??
Yes!…it’s called Fly Away Blackbird: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CorianderQuilts?ref=seller-platform-mcnav&search_query=fly+away+blackbird
When will the scrappy carrot quilt block be released?
Corey
Isn’t the distraction before the video called, “Creatively Minded” Fons Portor Design Wall I’ve had mine for years. I live in an apartment so mine is folded in half and just put up by hanging the grommets up on little nails. Thanks Corey
Love the new scrappy butterfly. Absolutely peachy keen!
My goal is to make table runners for each month/holiday. The blocks will used for many of them. Also, love the dress/shirt you are wearing. hard to tell with the table in front of you.
Thanks for the patterns, so cute. I enjoy watching your videos also. Happy Day
Love the little scrappy blocks. I finally finished piecing my scrappy Irish Chain. I made mine the size you did. I just don’t need a 90 inch square quilt. Now just need to quilt it. I finished it at quilt retreat and need to snap pictures of all the tops I finished at retreat. Then share on the facebook page.
Loving these scrappy blocks.
thank you so much for the oh so cute scrappy butterfly pattern!
I just landed on this and am so excited with the possibilities. You may have already mentioned this, but do you have a Scrappy House Block in the making? I also print out the pages and am excited at the possibilities. I am going to make some into hoop quilts that I put on the wall in my sewing room and can change them out with the seasons. Oh what fun. Thank you so much!!
