Barn Star 14 coming soon!
In today’s video, I bring you along for a day of testing out a new Barn Star pattern that I am working on.
I wrote a new Barn Star pattern last week, Barn Star 14. I want to release this pattern soon so I need to get this brand new pattern ready for all of you.
Part of creating a new quilt pattern is to make the quilt following my own pattern to uncover any mistakes in the pattern. That’s what I was working on in the video and what you’ll get to see and hear about when you watch.
I hope to have the Barn Star 14 pattern ready to purchase soon and we are one step closer to that happening. =)
This week’s new Sewcialites quilt block is this strawberry block. Isn’t it cute! Both Barn Star 14 and the strawberry block are made using Fruit Salad fabrics which are in quilt shops right now.

When I have rotary blades that stick together, I put on a cut resistant glove to handle them and usually can slide my thumb across the top blade and it slides right over. I tried the small seam ripper method once, but it caused a nick on the new blade.

I think that big checkered square needs something, like a star. It’s just too much blank space:)

I’ve had two 5-packs of rotary blades, same brand as you, stick together. The first time I used a thin screwdriver. DON’T! According to Chat GPT, use a drop of rubbing alcohol, put them on folded paper towels, wearing a safety gloves or garden gloves and fingers on top, press together and gently slide sideways. If they are still stuck, put a drop of rubbing alcohol or dish soap around the edge between the blades. Let it seep for a minute and try again. Once separated dry each blade. If gummy matter is on the blades, rubbing alcohol will remove it.
Hi Corey – I watched your video on Saturday and when I saw you frustrated by having to sort thru your alphabetties, I knew there was a better way. I couldn’t think of what I thought would help, I have chemo brain it takes me a bit, but I have come up with an idea!
Go to Walmart or the Dollar Store and look for plastic boxes used for beading. I am not sure how many squares are in each or what you could find locally, but I think that the alphabetties would probably fit. Then you could use each square for each letter. I bought some of these when my granddaughters were into making beaded bracelets for their friends. The ones I have I think I purchased at Walmart in their craft/beading section. They have 15 squares that are about 1-1/4″ square. Not being familiar with the alpahbetties, I am not sure of their size or how many letters are in the pack. seem to remember finding some of their beading supplies at Michaels, don’t know if you have one of those locally. Anyway, I hope this is something you can explore and use! Love the new Barn Star.
