Block of the Months

I love getting a “fabric-y” package in the mail–even better if they arrive on a routine basis.  You’ve probably run across various Block of the Months here and there–Fat Quarter Shop always has an amazing one every year.  This year they are doing “Snapshots” which promises to be another good one.  I have participated in their designer mystery block of the month–FQS does BOM’s right!

It’s been a few years since I have joined in on a BOM–but this fall, I joined in on two…two different ones totally caught my eye.

First up is the Fig Tree Mystery Sampler BOM–unfortunately this one looks like it’s full but if it strikes your fancy, keep an eye out–occasionally Joanna will have a couple spaces open up.

I really have no idea what to expect with this one–it’s a 12 month program, featuring various Fig Tree fabrics and a few more thrown in.  The picture above was the first teaser I saw on Facebook/IG.  I’m not sure what size the blocks are and I don’t think the final size of the quilt is even decided yet.  I really just couldn’t pass up a fun scrappy mix of Fig Tree & Joanna’s promise of using her favorite blocks for this quilt.  The first block ships very soon so I’ll be sure to share it with you!

The 2nd one I have signed up for is Sweetwater’s Block of the Month.  This one is an embroidery block of the month!–For 6 months you will receive 2 “feedsack” type blocks that you can add as much or as little to as you desire.  You only receive the panels(I’m not sure what size they are)–you would need to supply all additional supplies(i.e. embroidery thread, fabrics etc.).  There is an option to purchase the fabric/backing needed to complete the quilt as shown when the fabrics ship in the Spring.

I first saw this quilt in photos from Fall Quilt Market–and I immediately went to the United Notions/Moda website to see if those adorable feedsack panels where part of their Feedsack line of fabric coming out in the Spring.  I was bummed when I couldn’t find them.  So, when this BOM popped up over on their blog I knew I needed to hop on this bandwagon.

You can still sign up for this BOM through the 20th of this month–so a couple more days.  Read more about the BOM here.

And a quick housekeeping note

As of my last post, I will be answering questions/commenting in the comment section of  my blog rather than via email.  I have always answered via email but decided to go the comments route to simplify things.

Happy Monday!

Signed up for the Sweetwater BOM but no info on how to pay for it.

Here’s the product link to sign up: http://www.thesweetwaterco.com/?product=feed-company-block-of-the-month After filling out the info., at the bottom of the screen you hit “sign up now”. Then you will be told that it has been added to your cart. Go to the top of the screen and hit the little cart icon to finish checking out(sounds like this may be the part you skipped)–it’ll ask you for your address/payment info. etc. So glad you are joining in the fun!–I think it’s a wonderful BOM!

I signed up for the Sweetwater blocks. I’m looking forward to sewing them up. I enjoyed your Quilty stitches and now need something to do as a hand work project.

I always love having a hand project–especially during the winter. I am really looking forward to the Sweetwater project. It’ll be fun to have friends stitching along! =)

I knew I should have signed up for the Fig Tree BOM! I waffled because it is so much of a mystery and when I decided I would join it was too late. I did get in on the Fig Tree version of the Modern Building Blocks BOM.

I did the same thing Karen–I debated about it and then when there was just a couple spots left I jumped in. The Fig Tree Modern Building blocks was one I really thought about also but waited just a bit too long. =) Now every time I see those blocks I think I should have joined in!

I’ve signed up for the Sweetwater BOM as well, and one of my quilty resolutions for 2015 is to stay up to date on the embroidery. That shouldn’t be difficult, but sometimes things slide… 🙂

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
