So Many Things to Talk About!

I have lots of things to chat about with you today but first, it’s Moda Blockheads day!  So, let’s start with that.

Our block, Game Board, is brought to us by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings.

You can find the pattern on the Moda Blog here.

The pattern calls for a pieced center, which I loved, but since I’m trying to sneak in bits of the checked fabrics from Cozy Up, this was a great spot add it.  I liked how simple this block was to piece!  Lisa has designed a second block for us and it is coming out on Friday…it’s a good one too so be sure to stop back!

Next up, thank you so much for your kind comments and enthusiasm for Oh, Happy Day!

It has been a busy few days of shipping since the book came out on Monday!  You guys are keeping me hopping…thank you!  Oh, Happy Day! is in quilt shops now.  I also have signed copies available in my shop if you don’t have a local quilt shop you can visit.

If you watched my video on Monday (and speaking of Lisa!) you’ll be excited to know that my quilts are arriving home today from their visit to Primitive Gatherings.  Yay!…they’ve been gone for almost a year so it’ll be great to have them back…and film that Oh, Happy Day! trunk show I promised. =)

I do have another video to share with you today though!  It’s my May WIPs & UFOs video…and look at that pretty quilt top finish.  Don’t you love Stephanie’s tea towels!  I was most excited for this finish after chatting about it in last month’s WIPs/UFOs video.  I’m excited to talk more about it and share this finish in today’s video along with another finish.

I need your help deciding on which projects to work on this month!  If you watch the video (which you can find here), I’d love if you’d comment over on YouTube and let me know which, of the projects I shared, gets your vote.  It was so fun working on these WIPs and UFO’s with you all over the last month.  And it certainly gave me incentive to check them off my list!

I’ll be back on Friday with the next batch of Heartfelt blocks, the bonus Blockheads block, and another video. =)

In the meantime, Happy Sewing! Corey

I love your block. I too have the checked fabric and would like to make the block with the solid center. Please tell me the dimensions of your solid checked center. I’m new to quilting and sometimes get the math wrong. 😏🙃☺️ THANKS!

    • Corey says:

You would use the measurements in step 2 of the pattern for your block center…so either 5″x 5″ or 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ depending on which size block you are making. The check fabric fits perfectly!

  2. Loretta says:

Will these patterns be published in a book. Hopefully!

    • Corey says:

I haven’t heard talk that they are going to be. So far, only the blocks from the first round have been made into a book.

  3. Good morning Corey, yours was the first quilt related email I opened this morning but when I saw your BH block the first thing that came to my mind was “that does not look like a Lisa Bongean block it’s way to simple and there are no teeny tiny half square triangles” 😆 then I read your post. I really like the checked center idea. A fussy cut piece would also be great. I can’t wait to watch your video.
