Bonus Blockheads block & Lone Star block giveaway

I have a few fun things that I wanted to share with all of you today.  We have a new Moda Blockheads bonus block, some blocks I’m giving away, and a reminder to snag the May $5 pattern of the month.

First up, Heart Threads is my May $5 pattern of the month.  You have a few days left to snag it for $5.  You can find the pattern in my Etsy shop here.

Secondly, there is a new Moda Blockheads bonus block releasing today.  I am not making this block but thought you might like it for your weekend sewing.

Download the Wheat Field block pattern here.

Lastly, and maybe most fun?…I am giving away these 8 Lone Star blocks.

If you’ve been watching my WIP videos over on YouTube, these blocks were one of the projects I wanted to finish this month…I talked and showed them here:

I got the blocks out yesterday to sew together the quilt top, and I just didn’t feel like it was a project that I wanted to complete.  I know someone else will love these blocks and I am ready & happy to send them to a new home.  Maybe that’s you!  A little background on the blocks:

First off, you can read a bit more about them in this blog post.

These were blocks that I received as part of a quilting bee I participated in during 2018.  I have 8 blocks total to giveaway (they will all go to one person).  I made the block in the center of the above picture…the other blocks were made by other bee participants.  The blocks are all made using a variety of my fabric lines with the background being Moda Cross Weave in the color black.  Your local quilt shop may carry it although I find that I have had to purchase it online as my local shops do not.  It is this fabric.    The dye lots on this fabric will vary, so if you want to purchase more, it might not (probably won’t) be an exact match…just a heads up.  The blocks have not been trimmed down (they’ll end up being about 20″ square) and nothing was prewashed.  If I were finishing this quilt for myself, I would liberally use shout color catchers (throw several of them in there!) and wash on gentle/cold water for the first several washes after completing the quilt.

Sometimes part of finishing a WIP is letting someone else have, finish, and love the project.  That’s just what I am going to do with these blocks.  If they are something that you think you’d like to have, leave me a comment below.

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED AND THE WINNER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.

I’ll draw a winner to send them off to.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! Corey

Good morning Cory! Your block and the Bee”s blocks are beautiful! I’d love to have the opportunity to put the blocks into a quilt. It has been my desire to do something like this ever since my quilt friend rescued some bear paw blocks at an estate sale. She took blocks that many would have viewed as plain and turned them into such a beautiful quilt. I am not the seasoned quilter that you are but would love to give these beautiful blocks a new life and create something beautiful with them. Thank you.

Hi Cory! These blocks are gorgeous and you are very talented. A true inspiration to me. What a kind and generous gesture you offer. If I won the blocks, I would finish them for my expecting daughter and son in law. She’s a teacher and he’s a construction worker and they are so giving to others that they’d be so deserving and grateful for such a gift. I am sure when you started this quilt you had all the love and inspiration for a beautiful result, and I’d be honored to carry out that vision and gift it to a very deserving family. Thanks again for all that you do for the quilting community !! Rochelle

One persons name was drawn to receive 20 of the blocks to make a quilt from and my name was drawn! I made 5 more blocks to make it a little bigger. {{sigh}} We are moving and all of my sewing stuff has been in storage for a couple of months! I am pretty much chewing my nails off just waiting for the day to come when I can break through all the moving boxes and start quilting again!! Forget hanging pictures or putting my kitchen back in order or hanging clothes ~ I need to sew…and this would be such a beautiful project. 🪡🧵😊

I would love to finish up your Lone Star blocks into a quilt. I am relatively new at piecing. I have been making quilts for a long time but only have made a few with pieced blocks. I tend to choose patterns that use strips or mostly squares/rectangles. I have made ONE Long Star block and I said never again. I struggled and in the end I am not happy with my “not so flat block”. I would LOVE to at least be part of a quilt with Lone Star blocks and having your blocks to work with would be an honor. Thank you for your generous spirit to share yourself with us out here in the quilting community. I have come to love your fabrics, for some reason you fabric lines just make me feel happy and calm. I can’t pinpoint the exact reason, I just have that feeling when I see your fabrics. You are very talented.
