Hello All!–I hope that you had a wonderful weekend & a great fall kick-off. I had the fun of spending Friday and Saturday teaching a class at Mercantile on Main in Coshocton, Ohio. Denise, the shop owner, has a wonderful shop and the ladies in both of my classes were just a delight. There were too many Fat Quarter bundles that wanted to find their way home with me. And they still might! =)
I know some of you are in the holiday swing of sewing and I wanted to let you know that my Joyful pillow PDF pattern is on sale in my Etsy shop for only $5.00. This pattern is mini charm friendly (those little 2.5″ squares) & would be beautiful in Handmade by Bonnie & Camille.
The pattern includes instructions for both pillows pictured on the cover as well as a bonus 3rd pillow.
You know that I always enjoy a bit of handwork as the days turn cooler and this pattern includes both hand quilting:
The PDF is already marked on sale in my Etsy shop–no code needed.
Today, I am excited to let you know about my two latest patterns: Make it Modern & Joyful.
First up is Make it Modern. I first published this quilt at the end of 2012 in Quilt Magazine. You can read more about that here if you’d like. Since then I’ve received so many requests to offer it as a stand alone pattern. And, here it is!
I was excited when FQS asked me to participate in the Birthday fun as it just so happens that my little Elonie (by the way, her name rhymes with Melanie for those of you who read and wonder how in the world do you say her name!) just had her six year birthday this past Thursday.
I decided to let her pick out all of the fabrics for this Birthday Cake quilt block and turn it into a pillow she can have in her room.
Watching her pick out the fabrics was such a treat. I didn’t give her any guidance and let her have free reign of all of my fabrics. She picked out the blue background fabric first–blue is her favorite color. The next fabric she picked was the blue fabric for the candle, followed by the little bit holding the candle. She probably spent 1/2 an hour choosing fabrics. She laid the fabric out, vetoed some, pulled out other ones & decided early on that her cake was going to be a layer cake.
I quilted the pillow with a quick stipple, added an envelope enclosure for the back, and bound it with a coordinating striped fabric. I think it turned out so cute! And I love that I didn’t cringe about her fabric choices as I was piecing the block together–she did such a great job picking out a fun scrappy mix that really goes quite well together.
Happy 6 Years Elonie and Happy 1 Year Quilty Fun!–Thank you for asking me to participate FQS–The little Miss and I really enjoyed this project!
Thank you so much to all of you for following along on the Playful Petals Blog Tour!–Today is the last day of the blog tour and I hope you all have enjoyed it. Lee is sharing her thoughts on Playful Petals along with her adorable Daisy Fields pillow(pictured above) on her blog today. I love the yarn dyed dark linen background fabric she chose to use for her pillow. That fabric has been wanting to make it’s way into my stash for way too long! Be sure to hop over to Lee’s and check out her blog–she is always such an inspiration!!

These are just a couple of the beautiful projects shared as part of this tour–you’ll want to make sure to visit all of the stops to see all of the pretties shared!:
And now, we are moving onto the giveaway portion of today–I know you all have been waiting. =) I seriously want to enter this giveaway myself…it’s a good one!–And it’s all about my favorites.
Of course, the winner of the giveaway will receive a copy of Playful Petals:
Next up, how about some Moda Fabrics layer cakes?!—Moda fabrics has been and will remain my favorite fabric manufacturer. 15 years ago, I fell in love with a certain Moda fabric designer and spent hours scouring the internet for pieces from one of her lines of fabric. This was back in the day of dial up internet which meant it was slow going..but, I just fell in love with Moda!
Moda Fabrics has sent me two layer cakes for my giveaway, one of Kate Spain’s new Horizon line of fabric & one of The Jung’s new Pedal Pushers line of fabric.
I do a lot of fabric shopping locally but I also love shopping for fabric online. I reached out to one of my favorite online fabric shops…which I am sure you are all very familiar with..Fat Quarter Shop…and they donated a $50 gift certificate to their shop for my giveaway!
They have recently added some awesome things to their site…Have you all seen the Snapshots Quilt Along yet?–seriously amazing!:
Well, I figured why stop with one online shop?..So I reached out to another of my favorite online shops…Fabric Shack. Fabric Shack has both a great online store and a brick and mortar store which happens to be about 25 minutes from my sister-in-law’s house in Cincinnati. So, it is a must stop for me whenever we visit. The thing I love the most about shopping online at Fabric Shack is that they will cut 1/8 yd. cuts of fabric. For my scrap loving self, this is perfect! In fact, I bought 1/8 yd. cuts of the complete Up Parasol line from Fabric Shack when I was making my Tiled Blooms quilt:
Fabric Shack donated a $25 Gift Certificate to their online shop as part of today’s giveaway!
Well, since I don’t do all of my fabric shopping online, I contacted my favorite local quilt shop, Miller’s Dry Goods, to see if they would be interested in donating to my giveaway…and they said yes!–Now you might be thinking that you won’t be able to shop here..but, they also have a wonderful online shop to which they’ve donated a $30 Gift Certificate.
They carry all kinds of goodies..some of my favorites: The 8 wt. Finca Perle Cotton I am always referencing for hand quilting, Aurifil thread(which everyone in blogland is always referencing), Moda fabrics, Cotton & Steel fabrics, a great selection of solids, and the list goes on. Plus, you will not find a more accommodating staff!
Plus, they have the prettiest quilting retreat center, The Rural Thimble, right beside their fabric shop. Every time I shop there, I am envious of the ladies staying over in that facility–so pretty, newly opened, and just perfect for a group of 10 ladies to get together and sew to their heart’s content.
So, here’s the rundown of the giveaway prizes(a value of nearly $200):
Playful Petals Book
2 Moda Layer Cakes
$50 Gift Certificate to Fat Quarter Shop
$25 Gift Certificate to Fabric Shack
$30 Gift Certificate to Miller’s Dry Goods

Happy Thursday everyone!–Today I am sharing the last quilt in my book, Playful Petals. There are a total of 9 quilts and 9 pillows in the book for a total of 18 projects. This quilt is called Scattered Blossoms and is a great scrap basket buster.
I neglected to snap a picture of the pillow so it’ll just have to be a surprise. =)
I really hope that you have enjoyed seeing all of the projects from my book. If you have any questions about any of them or about anything in the book, please ask! =)
Today, two quilting super stars will be sharing about Playful Petals on their blogs. I am so excited that they are joining my blog tour! First up is Amanda from Crazy Mom Quilts. I have been following Amanda Jean’s blog for years!–She’s probably one of the first quilty blogs that I ran across–Love her blog! And 2nd up today is Lori of Bee In My Bonnet. Lori’s blog is another of my favorites–she’s always got something fun going on!–And her fabric…don’t even get me started!
