A Fun Sewing Day!

Last week, I had a fun sewing day and I filmed the project from beginning to end.  If you’d like to watch the video, you can see it here. =)

I decided that I wanted to make a Jelly Sticks quilt using my collection of vintage sheets that I’ve been collecting.  I starting cutting out my quilt around 11:30am and had a completed quilt top within a few hours.

It was a lot of fun diving into my collection of vintage sheets and cutting and sewing this project together.  I’ve been collecting the sheets (buying mostly fat quarters on Etsy) for many years.  I just looked at my Etsy purchases and many of them were purchased in 2011. =)  The sellers I purchased from are no longer selling on Etsy but you can find many other options with a quick Etsy search.

It was also fun to see how different this pattern looks when compared to the original Buttercup & Slate version!  I am drawn to so many different fabrics and they are always so much fun to play with!

And here’s the original in Buttercup & Slate.

The vintage sheets version almost looks like a watercolor, doesn’t it!  The white on white flower print I used for the vintage sheets version is from Buttercup & Slate and I think it was a beautiful compliment to all of the flowers in the sheets.

If you’d like to watch the video, you can catch it here.  It was a little bit of a different video than I’ve shared in the past and I hope you enjoy watching!

Have a wonderful Wednesday! Corey

I made the jelly sticks pattern using leftover beautiful day fabrics (from the mystery block of the month QAL you hosted last spring) and it is beautiful! I plan on making another jelly sticks in Tilda’s hometown fabrics! I thought the little houses would look cute in those big solid areas. Thank you for such a great pattern!

Thank you, your video was great! I enjoyed hearing your ideas and tips. The finished top is so pretty and would be a delightful lap quilt for a little girl.

  8. Beautiful. Very like a watercolor painting. I never thought about collecting vintage sheets. Might have to think about that.
I collect vintage aprons, 30s, 40s & 50s, the ones you slip over your head so it covers your chest. Just like the ones my maternal grandmother wore on the farm so they always remind me of her. I also have a collection of vintage table cloths. My favorite one is cowboy themed.
