Sewcialites Round 2, Block 4

You all will be happy to see a simpler block for today’s Sewcialites block!  This one is brought to us by Chelsi Stratton of Chelsi Stratton Designs.

You will find the pattern available here to download.

I wanted to chat just a little bit about the HST construction for this block.  Because we are making a scrappier block with no duplicate prints, the HST’s are constructed slightly different than you may be used to.  The technique is essentially the same but we are sewing one line and then trimming rather than two lines (and then trimming in between the lines).  The technique would be considered a stitch & flip construction rather than the standard HST construction.

Making the HST’s  this way, means we are not trimming them down.  If you prefer to trim down your HST’s, cut your B & C squares about 1/4″ larger than the pattern calls for.  Then you can trim them down to the size you need.

I had fun sewing up this block and I think you’ll enjoy this one as well!  I’ll be back tomorrow with the next Oh, Happy Day! sampler block. =)  Corey
