Sewcialites Round 2, Block 8

Interwoven Quilt Block

Happy Friday!  I wanted to thank everyone for your excitement over the new sew-alongs for 2023.  It was so much fun to chat with all of you here as well as over on YouTube about what your plans are for 2023.  It seems like many of us are ready for some scrap-busting.  It’s going to be fun to be sewing along with everyone again. =)

If you missed my blog post from Wednesday, be sure to check it out in case you want to join in as well!

Today, we have another fun Sewcialites quilt block.  This one, Interwoven, is brought to us by Shereece Nicole.

You can download the Interwoven block pattern here.

This block has a lot of pieces in it!  Careful labeling of those pieces as you cut them will really help you keep the colors where they need to be.  The other think you’ll notice that I did, was to label each of the prints with the color as it was pictured in the diagram on the pattern, and then on the right, list the colors I was going to be using.  This helped me keep things in order.

Another thing I did on this block, was to use some of the larger scale fabrics from Spring Brook and Buttercup & Slate.  I was careful about where exactly I was cutting the fabrics and used portions that featured less of the motifs.  This allowed me to use some of those prints without overwhelming this block.  I actually debated about using all solids for this block because of all of the pieces (and small ones at that!) but decided I wanted just a bit of print.  Being careful about the cutting allowed me to have “just a bit of print”.

Have fun sewing up your Interwoven block! Corey
