Blockheads Week 36

Good Morning Everyone and welcome to the 36th week of Blockheads round 2!

I thought I’d share a little bit of what I’ve been working on before sharing my block for this week with you. =)  I made a couple pillows for a friend–two little Christmas pillows.  The star pillow is based off of this tutorial by Amy Smart for a 60 degree star quilt.  I just enlarged the triangles to fit an 18″ pillow form.  And the tree pillow I drew up and appliqued to fit a 12″ x 20″ pillow form.  It had been awhile since I did any applique and it was quite fun.

For both pillows, I used the gingham stripe fabrics from my Flower Mill line of fabric.  I’ve purchased bolts of both of these fabrics as I love using them for bindings so much!

In other Christmas-y news, I finished up November’s Woodland BOM blocks yesterday.

Isn’t that gnome block adorable?!?  I think next month is the last month for these blocks–they have been a lot of fun to work on.  And, for once I have kept up to date with them.  It feels good to be on top of this one.

My mom came over one day last week and helped me organize my sewing room.  It had gotten a bit out of control.  After having a large destash over on Instagram with a lot of fabric heading out the door, it feels more manageable.  I still need to move out a lot more fabric but it’s a slow process in between other tasks.

I’ve organized everything by color rather than by collection.  I work by color not collection so this made the most sense.  When I design the collections, I want them all to mix without being overly “matchy” as this is how I love to design quilts….organized scrappiness.

Last week, I got to chat with some of you while sharing my Sunnyside Up quilts at Plaid Sheep Company in Berlin, OH.

I had all of my Sunnyside Up quilts laid out before loading them up to head out.  You’ll see the Sunnyside Up panel for the line works so well for not only quilts, but pillows, and bags.  And those, big quilt ladders in the back my husband made for me.  I wouldn’t be able to store nearly so many quilts without them!

If any of the quilts strike your fancy, patterns are available in my shop.

And now onto this week’s Blockheads block, Rolling Stone by Jo Morton.

For my block, I used that wonderful little plus print from Strawberry Jam (you’ll be able to purchase that fabric in March) and the purple floral print from Sunnyside Up (these fabrics are just now hitting quilt shops).  The block finishes at 6″ & the pattern can be found on Jo’s blog.

And the coloring page for Block 36 is here.

I can’t believe that the next time I share a Blockheads block, it will be after Christmas! =)  Go wrap those presents! (I know that I need to) =)

Happy Sewing!

Love all of the happy inspiration that your organized and colorful fabric stash has to offer! That Woodland BOM is so much FUN! I have not been as successful as you with keeping up with shipments, but I do hope to begin it this coming February. Thanks for sharing your progress!
