Heartfelt Charity Quilt Along: Release 3 (and video)

I think this is my favorite block I designed for the Heartfelt Charity Quilt Along.  I’m so glad I get to share the pattern with you today!

This is the 3rd block release in the Heartfelt Charity Quilt along.  If you missed block 1, you can find that post here.  If you missed block 2, that one can be found here.

The pattern for the fun half-checkerboard heart block, Darling, pictured above can be downloaded here.  And just a reminder in case you are new to this sew along, this is a charity event.  The downloads are free and a suggested donation of $5 can be made to Make a Wish Central/South Texas.  When I looked yesterday, we had just reached $75,000 of our $100,000 goal!

My blocks for this sew along are such a fun scrappy mix of favorite fabrics.  I’ve been having so much fun using what I have on hand…some bundles, and some picks from my stash.

The background fabric on this set of blocks is from my Sugarcreek line of fabric.  It’s such a great print but it’s been out of print for awhile.  However, it is making a comeback in my Coriander Seeds fabric line which is currently showing an end of May/beginning of June arrival into quilt shops.  I made sure to purchase a bolt of it so I can use it for awhile.  The scale on it is so nice and the little white flowers show up so nicely.

I had a lot of fun choosing the scrappy prints and coordinating low volume fabric for each of the 5 colors I am using.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but when we start poking around in our scrap bins, we find some of the best fabrics.  Those little bits that sift down to the bottom are always favorites.

These blocks have been such a treat to work on.  I will be sending this quilt off to Fat Quarter Shop to auction off and it is going to be hard to let it go!

Which block has been your favorite block so far?  It’s been a lot of fun to see your Beautiful Day blocks for this sew along!

Also, since it’s April 1, that means there is a new $5 pattern of the month.  I hadn’t planned to offer Picket Fence Cottages for awhile but I’ve decided April is the month for it. =)

Love your fabrics and your videos. Thank you for your beautiful creations. I’m working on the Heartfelt Quilt as well and have most of your collections, I especially love your panels. Speaking* of which, do you know where I might be able to find the one you did for Apricot and Ash? The lighter one? I know it was an older collections but I can’t find it anywhere, thank you❤️

Corey, these heart blocks are phenomenal! I don’t normally go for heart blocks, but I would make an exception for this one! XOXO

  5. I know you said you used scraps for this block but what line was it,I love it? Thx

  6. Sorry, me again! I noticed that your version of block 3 is a little different than what’s in the kit. Is that a smaller version than the 12” blocks? I’d love to have the dimensions for a smaller version of the quilt, perhaps an 8” or 10” block. Thank you.
