Moda Blockheads Block #10
Good Morning Friends and welcome to Blockheads Wednesday!
Today’s block, Ducks & Ducklings, is brought to you by Jo Morton & you will be able to find the block on her site. The block patterns are also uploaded to the Moda Blockheads Facebook group every Wednesday morning.
For my block, I opted to use a mix of Sunnyside Up & Flower Mill fabrics. I am often asked which of my fabric lines mix well together. And the answer is, all of them! The next photo is of all of the 12″ blocks so far from this round of Blockheads. They include a mix of all of my first 6 lines of fabric for Moda Fabrics. And as you can see, they mix together well.
When I design my fabric lines, I like to design them so they can be mixed and matched from line to line without being too “matchy”. I love a scrappy, well mixed quilt.
I was recently thinking about the quilt below (It’s Scattered Blossoms from my Playful Petals book). I think that it is a wonderful representation of the palette and feel of the fabrics that I enjoy working with.
These fabrics are a mix of fabrics from my stash from a broad variety of designers and fabric companies.
I love working with warm, happy fabrics and I carry that theme throughout my lines. Even a line like Pepper & Flax, with it’s limited color palette features the same warm colors. As such, it too, will mix nicely with all of the other collections.
If you have been wondering about mixing my collections, I hope this information helps you out. Now, if you have been utilizing the Blockheads blocks coloring pages I have been offering, you will find it below.
