Oh, Happy Day! Sampler Sew Along

In case you missed it, the Oh, Happy Day! sampler sew along is kicking off on Saturday, September 24. =)

I can’t wait for this sew along!…we’ve had a nice break since finishing up the Beautiful Day mystery BOM and now I am ready for some fun fall sewing with all of you!

Buttercup & Slate precuts have been shipping to quilt shops and it’s been so much fun seeing them arrive and all of your excited photos as you have started receiving them from your favorite quilt shops. =)  Yardage is not far behind and will be in shops soon as well.  And, with that, September 24 is the start date of our 12 week block of the week using my Oh, Happy Day! book. =)  I’ve designed such a fun setting for this sampler that I think you will love. =)

If you missed the fabric requirements for this sew along, you can find them here.  I have signed copies of Oh, Happy Day! in my Etsy shop.  I also shared more details about the sew along in this blog post if you’d like additional info.

If you have any questions, be sure to leave them here in the comments or over on the video I just shared this morning on my channel so I can help you out! =)

Have a wonderful Tuesday! Corey

I did so enjoy your Spring Brook Blossoms sew along and the finished quilt is lovely. I have received my fat eighths bundle and am awaiting the arrival of yardage in hopes it will arrive before your start date. Looking forward to making another beautiful quilt with your well-written patterns.

That was such a fun sew along, wasn’t it! The yardage should be in shops very soon but just in case, I planned the first block to not use any of the background yardage…this means if you have your fat eighth bundle by the 24th you can jump right in.

I plan on doing the Oh Happy Day sew along and I received my fat eighth bundle but the yardage shows it will not be available until Oct. Is there one of your other background fabric you would recommend.

    • Corey says:

Right now, Moda is showing yardage as starting to ship to quilt shops this week/next week so I would expect it to start showing up pretty soon. The block we are making on the 24th does not require any of the background fabric so technically, you wouldn’t need any until the following week. If you decide that you want to substitute something different, any of my Coriander Seeds fabrics would match, or any white on white from any of my other collections. Additionally, the Moda Bella white solid that matches is 9900-200 if you wanted to go that route.

Hello Corey, I would love to do the sew along. I have not done a sew along. I am new to quilting but I have completed 3 quilts so far and I have been using fmq to finish my quilts. You mention that this is an intermediate level sew along. Will there be applique or any complicated blocks that would be difficult for an advanced beginner? Thank you!

    • Corey says:

I would love to have you!…If you have a copy of Oh, Happy Day!, you can look through and see if you feel like any of the blocks would be too tricky for you. There will not be any applique…there will be stitch/flip corners, HSTs, flying geese, and some smaller piecing.

    • Renee Engates says:

Thank you! I will order your book and start getting ready!

I’m so looking forward to this sew a long! My fat eighth came in Monday. I was concerned about the yardage not arriving before the first block but your response to other comments make me feel better! Now I’m curious about the first block!!

    • Corey says:

Oh good!…I planned it to be as user friendly for getting the yardage in time but still allow us to finish before Christmas. I know it get so busy for everyone as we get closer to the holidays!

  8. Christi Franks says:

Picked up my fat eighths bundle today at lunch (traffic was bananas in Berlin 😳). They still had a few bundles left at Helping Hands.

  9. Kristin says:

I have never done a sew along before. I’m really excited to join you!
Could I use 2 layer cakes instead of a fat 8th bundle? Would that still give me enough fabric?

  10. Patty Nations says:

This will be my first sew along and I can’t wait. I just got my fat eighth bundle and I love the fabric! I’ve never prestarched my fabric and I was thinking of giving it a try. I know the fabric will shrink some, but I wasn’t sure how much. Will I have enough with what’s on your fabric requirements?

  11. Sherry Bonner says:

This will be my first quilt although I’ve done quite a bit of sewing before. My question is do you recommend prewashing the fabric before starting, as you do for other sewing?

  12. Debbie Ingram says:

This is my first sew-along with you! My last fabric was delivered this morning. I have my book. Ready to go! 😻

  13. Susie Gorham says:

Do you have a page somewhere that can be printed for use at home stating, for example, “Week 1; pg. 32….” I’ve ordered the fabric; however, I won’t be able to sew right now so I want to be able to have this completed resource at the end of the twelve weeks.

Where can I find your Oh Happy Day book to purchase?

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
