Round 4 Moda Block Heads: Block 9

Block 9 for Moda Blockheads Round 4 is, Cross My Mind by Zen Chic.

Wow!…what a fast block to piece.  I streamlined the piecing even further by cutting my green and white pin dot as long strips (1 1/2″ x 16″ for the 9″ sized blocks).  You would need 2 strips of the white pin dot and 1 of the green pin dot.  I cut this in place of the smaller rectangles listed in the pattern.  This allowed me to sew the strips together and left plenty of room to then trim to size (4 squares, each cut at 3 1/2″ square for the 9″ block).

I also wanted to mention Brigitte’s wonderful basics for Moda Fabrics called Spotted.  If you haven’t yet had a chance to work with them, they are wonderful.  I used them in my Twinkle & Shine quilt in my new Oh, Happy Day! book.  You can see the texture they added to the quilt in the picture below…almost a solid but a bit of beautiful texture.  They come in a lot of great colors and are so pretty!  One of my local quilt shops, Miller’s Dry Goods, carries a fantastic selection.
