Fly Away Blackbird Quilt Pattern

Happy Monday Friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. =)  Ours was busy but good!  If you tune into my YouTube channel you’ll be happy to know that I got some peaches canned this weekend. =)  Maybe freezing some corn is next?  Do you have a favorite thing to preserve each summer…either canning or freezing?

I wanted to stop by to let you all know that the Fly Away Blackbird pattern is the $5 pattern for this month.  My sample uses Buttercup & Slate fabrics which will be in shops this fall.

Fly Away Blackbird uses a couple charm packs plus some additional yardage to complete the 72″ square quilt.  I would say this is an intermediate level pattern.

The pattern is available in both Paper & PDF versions in my shop.   The Paper version is the version that gets mailed and the PDF version is an emailed copy for you to download and print yourself.

I shared a video of all of the new Buttercup & Slate quilts in this YouTube video if you’d like to see/hear a bit more about Fly Away Blackbird or any of the other new Buttercup & Slate quilt patterns.

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!  I hope to be back tomorrow to share a peek at a brand new fabric line. Corey

Of course I already purchased this pattern but it was worth the full price. I just love it!

I love this pattern, just waiting on the fabrics 😉 I was able to get that bolt of medallion fabric!!! I love home canned tomatoes and green beans. This will be the first year in a long time I don’t have any beans to can, but I have tomatoes to work on today. 🙂

I want to do both green beans and tomatoes this year. I’ve canned green beans before and I’ve frozen tomato sauce before but I’d like to do some tomato canning this year. =)

    Hi Cory,
I am jealous that you are canning. I use to do a lot of canning when I lived on the farm. Canning is a lot of work but it is satisfying in the long run. Nothing like going to the pantry and
taking out a jar of fruit, jelly, vegetables that you took the time to preserve for future use.
Today I don’t do any canning. I canned everything that was grown during the season. Don’t have the garden anymore, live in an apartment.
    Have a good day.

It’s been a few years since I’ve done any canning or freezing. It’s so fun to do though, isn’t it! We have so many farmer’s markets that make it easy to purchase fresh produce. This year, I don’t have a garden so I’m thankful I can still put some different things away.

I already bought this pattern the minute I saw it. Just waiting for the fabric to be available. My college sorority (philanthropic) has an annual fundraiser, and as our colors are black and gold and the mascot is a crow, this quilt will become my next donation to the fundraiser. It’s just perfect!

    Happy Monday Corey,

My very most favorite thing to make and can is Apple Butter. The aroma of the apples and spices cooking down through the day is just the best smell of fall. Nothing better on warm biscuits in the winter. I’ve also made Green Tomato Relish (Chow Chow), which is pretty labor intensive getting all the vegetables prepped and chopped. But you can’t beat all the combined flavors with a bit-of-a-kick on hot dogs, incorporated into Sloppy Joes — lots of uses. Some of my friends like it just on crackers. Wow, now I’m all inspired — think I’ll wash some jelly jars in anticipation!

Good morning! The garden is growing faster then I can pick!. Green beans and Lima beans harvested and tomatoes, peppers not far behind! My daughter and I freeze corn every year so that will be coming up soon. All the work is worth it when you go to the freezer in winter and open up a little bit of summer!

I look forward to the mail this am, I ordered the Blackbird pattern and another one from your shop last week. My to-do pile is getting out of control!

    Have a fabulous Monday!

I’m waiting eagerly for this collection! My hubby and I make jams every year- strawberry and red raspberry mostly. We’ve got it down to a science so it goes fast and then we have wonderful jams all year!

I will want to make this one for my sister, in the lap-top size. She loves to draw all kinds of birds.

I canned peaches last month – 1st time in my life canning, but I want to learn to do more! I never set out to be a quilter, but I’m being drawn in!! When you posted on Instagram stories about My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe doing a Hello Fall quilt kit with your Cozy Up fabrics, I immediately went to their website and … took a screenshot and sent it to my daughter, asking for it for my birthday. She said yes and it arrived today! I love all the colors and fabrics in there!!! I am super intimidated by the quilt, though! I plan on doing your next mystery quilt-along, so that will build some confidence!

    Hi Corey,
I love your patterns and fabrics!!!! I can tomatoes, relish, cranberry sauce, and next is applesauce. Good for you because that is a lot of work! I just made a tablerunner with your Rain Check pattern for August. Love it…thank you!
