Moda Blockheads Round 5 (Group 2): Block 12

I love the block for Moda Blockheads today! It is brought to us by Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life. If you are not familiar with Heather’s quilt patterns and fabrics, you are in for a real treat!

I have had the fun of getting to know Heather through social media over the last couple years. We’ve emailed and chatted and she’s just a joy. Heather has made some beautiful quilts using some of my fabric lines. For example, this beautiful tulip quilt:

PS…if any of these patterns have caught your eye or if you want to see more of Heather’s beautiful designs, be sure to visit her shop!

So, when I found out Heather was a new Moda Fabrics fabric designer last fall, I couldn’t have been more excited for her. I got to meet her in person at fall quilt market and she is just as kind in person as she seems online. =) I also had the fun of trading her a layer cake of Starberry for one of her Flower Girl layer cakes:

What to make?, what to make?! =) Anticipation is half the fun, isn’t it. =)

Flower Girl should be in quilt shops next month.

Heather’s block for us today is Starling.

You can download the pattern here.

I used Peachy Keen for my block this week (no Blueberry Delight mixed in on this one). I think it’s so sweet! I really like how my little blocks are shaping up.

Enjoy stitching your block up this week! Corey

Corey, I’d love to see what this block would look like (with your color choices) in an entire quilt made of it. I imagine that it would have secondary patterns popping up in it.

If you look at my Starflakes pattern in my Etsy shop, it’s a similar block I designed for that quilt. It will give you a great idea of what the Starling block would look like repeated in a quilt.

    Corey,

How many more block patterns are there in the Blockheads 5 Group 2 series?
    Thanks,
    Cyndy

I really love your blocks. The blues are so beautiful. Can’t wait to see this quilt all together. I love all of Heather’s patterns, always so many pretty flower blocks. I want to try her spool blocks from last year with leftover of your fabric. I just need to make a few quilts so I can get some scraps together.

Corey, I hoping you can give me some help. My son just got a job as Pastor of Mentor Baptist church. Have you ever been there? I’m wondering about the weather and doctors. I’m 70 now and need to find some good doctors before I leave Washington. It’s just so damp here I’m colder here then Alaska. I’m new to your you tube but am Loving it and you. Thanks Debbie

I’m sorry I can’t be of more help…I don’t believe I’ve visited Mentor. It looks to be about 1.5 hours from me. Weather-wise, I would wonder about lake affect snow being right beside the lake—if so, it could be quite snowy in the winter.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
