Wonky Log Cabin Quilt Block Tutorial

A few weeks ago over on my YouTube channel I shared a WIPs update. In that update, one of the quilt tops I finished was a Wonky Log Cabin quilting bee quilt top.

Do you remember seeing this bright quilt in that video?

In that video, I asked if anyone would be interested in a Wonky Log Cabin quilt block. It’s one of those blocks that can look much trickier than it is. I’d say this is one of the most beginner friendly quilt blocks there is. In fact the one and only quilt my oldest daughter Chloe has ever made was made using this quilt block:

There was a ton of interest in seeing how this block is made. So, Ryan and I put together a Wonky Log Cabin quilt block tutorial for all of you. You can see/hear more about the quilts I showed above as well as learn how to make these fun blocks in today’s video.

Be sure to watch to the end for a little guest appearance. =)

I used a scrappy mix of left over fabrics from making my Coriander Colors quilts. These blocks are so happy and bright! Coriander Colors will be in quilt shops in June.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoy today’s video! Corey

Good morning! Thank you for sharing this fun tutorial. I’m working on a few HST quilts & had a few that got a bit wonky or the colors didn’t work in the quilt and they are the perfect start to some wonky log cabin mug rugs!

I love this block! I commented on your video about the wonky block quilt I made for my daughter YEARS ago (she graduated high school in 2012, so that long ago). I wish I could paste the photo in here but alas.

I figure out how to copy the Flickr album link, finally! https://flic.kr/s/aHsjEKp5Vd is the very small quilting album I’ve got there. Sarah’s wonky quilt should be in the middle of the pics.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
