Sew Colorful Clover Quilt

Clover Quilt

Today, I have just the perfect quilt to share with you for St. Patty’s day. =)

The ladies over at Fat Quarter Shop asked if I would be interested in making a quilt using one of their Sew Colorful monthly fat quarter bundles.  You can read more about these bundles here.  The color bundles are available as a monthly club or individually if you prefer just to purchase just one color at a time.

I chose to work with the March bundle which, perfectly, is the color green.  These are the fabrics included in this month’s bundle (minus 3 because I got my fabrics a little bit early and they weren’t quite available–the bundles include 15 fabrics):

I picked out my favorite fabrics from the bundle and then added some fabrics from my stash to make the perfect spring, green selection.

And then last month, Allison of Cluck, Cluck, Sew released her Clover Quilt pattern which is available here.  And I knew that I just had to make it with these fabrics.

The pattern includes a variety of sizes and I opted for the smallest size.  It was quick to make and the instructions and illustrations were very nicely written.  And how perfect is this quilt for this bundle of greens! =)

You might remember that last year, I designed a quilt to work with these monthly color bundles, Sew Colorful Spools.

I’ve gotten my Sew Colorful Spools quilt back from my quilter, David and I couldn’t be happier with it.  The Spools pattern works so well with these monthly bundles but it also works beautifully to use up your scrap fabrics.

I used the monthly bundles and then added in fabrics from my stash as I wanted to through out the year.

The white background fabric is Moda Bella Solid in 9900-200, my favorite! Along with Moda Mochi Linen in Putty (for the spool ends).  The Sew Colorful Spools pattern is available to purchase in PDF format only here.

This year, a new quilt pattern, Sew Colorful Stars, has been released to work not only with the bundles but with your stash as well.  I always sort my scraps by color so these sorts of quilts work so well for me to use up my fabric stash.

The Sew Colorful Stars pattern is available here.  I hope that you have enjoyed seeing these quilts and perhaps it has inspired a bit of St. Patty’s day sewing for you.  Have a wonderful day!  Corey

  1. Green is my favorite color. When out walking I love discovering all the different shades. And living here in San Diego you really have to look for them. The greens you chose for the clover quilt are so pretty and bright I love them all.
    Thank you 🍀

What can you tell us about the grey fabric that you used?

    • Corey says:

Is it the Mochi linen (the polka dots) or the backing fabric for the Spools quilt you were wondering about?

      • Jean says:

        The white borders…Thanks!

      • Jean says:

the mochi linen. The picture is unclear to me. Can’t see any polka dots, can’t tell if the white borders on the polka dot fabric are sashing

Here is a link to the post I shared before I sewed the spool blocks together: https://corianderquilts.com/sew-colorful-spools/ I think that will help you be able to see the blocks better. There is no sashing in this quilt. Each spool block uses the Mochi Linen (which is the polka dotted fabrics on the top/bottom of the spools) and the white background fabric (on the left/right of the block). I linked to both of these fabrics in my blog post description above.

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
