Sunny Patches BOM: Sunny Friendship Star
Hello, Hello!..Welcome back to another Sunny Patches block pattern. Our block for today is the Sunny Friendship Star block.
I had to show you the behind the scenes picture of the photo you see above. If you are a Tiggs fan, you might think this is pretty cute.
I often will take my photos outside if the lighting is nice (and yesterday it was!). I have a little photo backdrop paper that I can take outside to photograph on. Without fail, as soon as I pop outside, Tiggs meanders his way over to me and will plonk on down beside me. Sometimes it’s after he gives me a head bump and then plops at my feet…other times it’s a head bump and then a plop right in the middle of my picture. He is not a graceful “plopper” either…he is all in and does it with gusto. If I plonked on the ground like he does, I am quite sure I wouldn’t be getting back up anytime soon LOL. =)
I enjoyed making both the Beautiful Day version of this block as well as the Sunwashed version that I just made last Saturday when we filmed the Sunny Friendship Star block tutorial.
You can watch the block tutorial video here. PS…if you don’t need to watch the video for the tutorial, but want to chat over in the video comments today (Saturday) I can usually be found chatting there Saturday mornings when a new video goes up. Come over and say Hi!
You can download the Sunny Friendship Star block pattern here.
This block is composed of HST’s plus solid squares. As, with the previous blocks, if you’d like to simplify the block, you can do so by swapping out the small, center Friendship Star for a solid square. The instructions to make this switch are included in the block pattern.
Our little collection of Sunny Patches blocks are shaping up nicely. It’s been fun sharing these with you. I hope you’ve been enjoying making them! I mocked up our block today in a scrappy version.
It’s such a cheery, happy quilt using a Sunwashed fabrics.
If you are new to the Sunny Patches Block of the month, you will find the fabric requirements here, an introduction post here, the 1st block here, 2nd block here, and the 3rd block here.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend! Corey
I love Friendship Star blocks and a bonus to get 2 in one block! Thank you for this fun pattern and sew along. Tiggs is just so funny and full of personality!
I thought it was such a fun block to stitch up. You are right…Tiggs is such a funny cat–he makes us laugh so often. =)
You know…a head bump from your kitty is the highest form of love for his Mama. 🤗 I love the block!
I always love his little kitty head bumps…he’s so predictable with them. =)
I really love this Friendship Star block!!
I hope you have fun stitching it up!
This is such a cute block! I can’t wait to get started — but I had to stop and say, your Tiggs story really made me laugh out loud!! Thank you for this sew-along and for the moments of cheer you always bring =)
I’m so glad he brought you a smile!…he makes us laugh so often. =)
Adorable block! Thank you for the Tiggs story!
Tiggs is such a funny boy!
Love your kitty! I have a blonde cat named Butterscotch who tends to be a little standoffish, but if there’s a quilt nearby, she has to lie on it.
Cats and quilts seem to go hand in hand!
Love the block! The material makes me smile. Thank you so much for this mystery sew along. Have a great weekend. Till next month, happy sewing
I’ve been enjoying this sew along too…it’s always so much fun to share a new block. =)
I love seeing all of your fabrics and quilt alongs. You do such a great job on the tutorials. I just live down the road a ways from you in Navarre, OH. I keep hoping that I’ll run into you sometime while down in the Berlin/Millersburg area. Thank you so much for the tutorials. Have a great weekend.
Do you shop at AnnaLouisa’s?…I keep thinking I want to visit–I’ve never been & it’s so close!
Love the Tiggs photo bomb. I have 2 cats and they too know when to appear when something is laid out on the floor. And they love to come running and plow into the quilt layout just when I get it the way I want and mess it all up. Love them anyway.
I know what you mean about them messing up quilt layouts! Quilt blocks on the floor seem to be very “pounce-able”. =)
I’m so enjoying this quilt along! Love your sunwashed fabric line. Im doing this quilt, Bountiful and also bought a 1/2 yard bundle for my stash. I also had a Tigger, who was also called Tiggs, Quenn la Tigga, or tuna breath depending on the day. So it warms my heart to see your kittty. Thank you for your sewalongs!
I think a lot of us quilters have a fondness for kitties…and they sure seem to have a fondness for our quilts!
I am loving to sew along in the sunny patches can’t wait to do this months block later today
I hope you enjoyed sewing it up!
Yay …Tiggs! Love the beautiful block and so happy to have a video today! You’re such a bright spot in our days and always inspiring. I’m so looking forward to your upcoming visit to the FQS YouTube channel. Can’t wait to hear all you’ve been up to. Thanks Corey!
It’ll be fun to chat with Kimberly on Friday!
Hello Corey, are the frames on all the blocks going to be the same measurements? If so, I would like to get them all cut now. Thanks
They are!…and yes, you can cut them in advance if you’d like to. =)
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Hi Corey, I am in the middle of watching you and Kimberly Jolly show your beautiful quilts!
I know you have probably been asked this before but are you related to Mary Yoder of The White Cottage Company? I watch her YouTube channel and I’ve just wondered about it for quite a while and thought I’d finally ask 🙂
I’ve only been quilting for about 5 years and before I started learning some of the fabric designers names, I was always drawn to your fabric lines because of the colors and cheerful designs.
It was so much fun to chat with Kimberly! No, I am not related to Mary Yoder of The White Cottage Company. I will need to check out her YouTube channel! =)
