Viewer Q&A

A few weeks ago, I accepted viewer questions on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.  You all left me so many fun questions!

In today’s video, I answered a number of them in a fun, chatty video.  I still have many more questions to go through so if you submitted one, I plan to do more Q&A type videos in the future.  If you have any questions you’d like answered in a future video, leave me a comment over on YouTube under today’s video.

And, speaking of comments…I have so been enjoying reading your comments from the giveaway post on Saturday.  We all have so many fun WIPs we are working on.  It’s going to take me awhile to read through all of the comments but it’s been fun!

Have a wonderful day! Corey

    Hello.

Thank you for writing and teaching and sharing so many wonderful things about quilting. When you create your videos, is it possible to have a written “script” published for those of us that cannot watch videos? Your question and answer video sounds fun, but alas, I cannot watch the video.

Here is a strange question, in 2021 I packed up my large family home to buy a smaller home, so my quilting room and all its fabic … was boxed up, moving here we have no room, was trying to get organized when our new house got water damage from the hard rains in Jan 22, so the house got boxed up again, and here it is Jan 23 and they are just finishing the last fix … the problem here is … I have no motivation to sew, because I can’t seem to find space for sewing , any idea’s on how to get motivated again?

I have a tiny corner in the family room with my sewing machine on a table and I keep my fabric/supplies in a messy closet and some plastic tubs in the garage. STAKE YOUR CLAIM! “This is Mama’s sanity corner!” You can do it.
Start out unpacking 1 box. Fondle, sort, wash, press, discard and put into a fresh clean box. It isn’t a race. Maybe you will come across something that will stir up your sewjo.
      Good luck! Kerry

Thank you Kerry … I used to sew at our kitchen table way back in the day, then I got very own sewing room and got spoiled but I loved sewing at the table .. because I was among the family .. I think I will be okay .. now just to get the “sewjo” 🙂

I heard someone say that motivation doesn’t come from out of nowhere. We produce motivation after we’ve accomplished something, then that feeling spurs us on, thus building and growing our motivation. If I’m not “feeling motivated” I start small knowing the accomplishment will fuel the next project. Also, I too have a large family and had to stake my claim. My kiddos and hubby have been respectful of my space and time since they see that it is healthy for me. Happy wife happy life!

Kimberwdld, I understand what you are going through. Moving is very stressful and then you had to deal with the added bonus of an unexpected repair. Give yourself some time to settle into your new home. Before our recent move I sewed at our dining room table. My family didn’t mind the mess because they knew momma was happy when sewing. You don’t need much room for your machine and ironing board. I’ve gone through several times of no interest in quilting but the itch did return after some time passed. Or you might discover you like a different hobby just a little bit more—nothing wrong with that. In the meantime, go through your fabric, donate what you are no longer interested in using, and safely store the rest. Kerry (post above) had some great suggestions. Hang in there!

    Hi Corey!
I’m new to quilting (2 years) and enjoyed my first sampler with the Oh Happy Day QAL. But I had difficulty not losing the points of all those little sawtooth stars. Any tips?
    Thanks for the fun!

I consider my stash which is overflowing to be about two dozen WIP. I love those pieces you cut and the finished granny squares but the last thing I needed was another WIP. I hope the winner will post the finished quilt so we can ooh and aaaah!

Hey Friends!--I'd love to hear from you. =)
